    25th Latino Film Festival at the BAC

    For 25 years now, the Chicago Latino Film Festival has cultivated an intricate network of Latino artists, creators, and innovators from film and art communities. Over 3,000 people attend the Festival’s special events, including international media, celebrities and Chicago's movers and shakers. Festival guests experience Chicago life and its rich cultural scene, making the Chicago Latino Film Festival a jewel to the City, as it contributes greatly to its positioning as a world-class city.

    The Chicago Latino Film Festival will celebrate its Silver Anniversary, as the oldest and most comprehensive Latino film festival in the country, representing over 100 films in an array of genres –fiction, animation, documentary, and shorts that reflect the great diversity of Latino culture from the United States, Latin America, Portugal, and Spain.

    Michael Keaton directorial debut The Merry Gentleman finally arrives in Chicago! Q&A with executive producers Paul Duggan and Tom Bastounes, writer Ron Lazzeretti

    Michael Keaton’s highly anticipated directorial debut The Merry Gentleman will finally surface in Chicago at The Midwest Independent Film Festival on Tuesday, April 7th. The Sundance selection also stars Keaton, Kelly Macdonald (No Country for Old Men, Trainspotting) and a talented Chicago cast led by Tom Bastounes, who is also executive producing the film. The First Tuesday festivities begin at 6 p.m. at Landmark's Century Centre Cinema, 2828 North Clark, on Tuesday, April 7th. A question-and-answer session with Bastounes, executive producer Paul Duggan, producer Steve Jones and writer Ron Lazzeretti follows the screening.

    Spring is traditionally the time for household cleanings, and this year some of that extra stuff and clutter can be turned into cash in, in this economy, who can't use a little extra dough? Or, save money on finding needed things at a bargain price!!!

    HGTV's Frank Fontana, host of the wildly popular series, "Design on a Dime" will host a "Funky to Fabulous" contest where three contestants chosen at random will design a space of their own using items from the Big Swap Bonanza. Contestants will be given 30 minutes and $100 to shop for items they will use to design their area. Fontana will choose the winning design based the criteria of function and fashion. The contestant with the best design will win the furnishings they have chosen for their design along with a season pass to the Randolph Street Market Festival featuring the Chicago Antique Market and Indie Designer Market opening Memorial Day weekend.

    At the new Big Swap Bonanza, to be held Saturday May 2 at Soldier Field, outdoors in the South parking lot, Tailgate spaces can now be reserved for $50, and include room for a display and a regular vehi! cle. Li nebacker spaces are available for $75 which are bigger and also come with a parking space.

    If you round up 3 friends then your space if FREE! Register together you can either divvy up the fee of all 3 spaces and have the 4th free or have a $50 or $75 saving for yourself! You can create a festival foursome to help sell your stuff, earn some cash and have some fun!

    EVENT DETAILS....

    Gates open for sales display set up at 5:00 a.m, and shoppers can arrive as early as 7:00 am, rain or shine.

    Admission is $3 per person, kids under 12 free with parent. Customer parking is reduced rate of $10 per car. The event runs until 3:00 p.m. and seller tear- down should be complete by 6:00 p.m.

    ENTER THE MESSY ROOM CONTEST TO WIN A FREE SPACE....

    There is a "Messy Room Contest" for swappers and shoppers to submit the messiest environment in their own home, or the messy rooms of friends and family.

    Winner receives a free 17 feet by 8 feet space to park and unpack their unwanted clutter and present it to bargain-hunting crowds of buyers. Nominees for the "Messy Room Contest" may submit their photos by email to info@bigswapbonanza.com with a brief description or story, and their contact information.
