“One of the best songwriters in the English language… an enchanting and riveting performer.” – Chicago Tribune.
A World Music Company favorite returns. The always mesmerizing folksinger songwriter Michael Smith, best-known as the author of such classic songs as The Dutchman and Spoon River, made his mark in the world of musical theater when he composed the music for Steppenwolf Theatre’s Tony Award-winning production of The Grapes of Wrath. He also created the music and words for The Snow Queen, one of the biggest box office hits in Victory Gardens Theater’s history.

Regarded as the finest bluegrass band to ever come out of the state of Illinois, this very special four-person acoustic band bridges the gap between traditional and progressive bluegrass and was founded more than 30 years ago by Greg Cahill of Oak Lawn, who describes their music as “hillbilly jazz.” Special C has released a dozen albums, received two Grammy nominations, toured nationally and internationally, and received a standing ovation after their first performance at the Grand Ole Opry’s historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.
