Monarch Butterfly Festival 2008

The Lake Katherine Nature Center and Botanic Gardens invites the community to attend the 2008 Lake Katherine Monarch Butterfly Fest from 11:30 until 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 21, 2008 at 7402 W. Lake Katherine Drive in Palos Heights. The proceeds from the fifteenth annual fundraising event will benefit Lake Katherine’s education programs, animal care and habitat restoration. The main attraction is a butterfly tent filled with hundreds of native butterflies. The fun filled festival also includes an visiting wildlife exhibits; a live insect exhibit and Lake Katherine’s own recently expanded wildlife exhibits. A variety of outdoor games will give kids a chance to make giant bubbles, search for treasure in a haystack, potato sack races and more. Guests to Lake Katherine can also enjoy hayrides, a rock climbing wall, nature exhibits, face painting, and children’s crafts. Canoe Rental and Create-a-Scarecrow are available for an additional charge. A craft fair will feature local crafters. Admission: Adults - $6.00 Children - $4.00. Food and Beverages will be sold. BACtoberfest Celebration - October 4th

Celebration of music, food and beverages on Sat., Oct. 4th, 4 to 9 p.m., at the Center, 2407 W. 111th St. (111th and south Western Avenue), Chicago. Admission is free; food and beverages will be available for purchase.
