Cherry Poppin' Daddies July 19th 8:00pm - Integrating swing, rock, funk and ska into a unique swing-revival sound, Cherry Poppin’ Daddies first came onto the alternative music scene in 1989 in Eugene, Oregon. “Zoot Suit Riot,” their hit single, was released in 1997 and sent them to number 1 on Billboard’s Top Heatseekers. The song and its music video were nominated for a MTV Video Music Award. Original band members still performing with the group are Steve Perry, lead vocals & guitar, Dana Heitman (trumpet) and Dan Schmid, bass, are joined by several other musicians for a big, swinging sound. $35 Tickets

Alice in Wonderland
Alice visits with talking flowers in the delightful Chicago Kids Company version of “Alice in Wonderland” on selected weekdays at 10:30 a.m. and Saturdays at 12:30 p.m. through Aug. 22 at the Beverly Arts Center, 2407 W. 111th St., Chicago.
